VOLUNTEER BOND
We will no longer be collecting any payments upfront for volunteer bond. Volunteer bond is a mandatory bond that will be enforced. In the event a family does not fulfill their volunteer bond hours by March 31 of the current season, one volunteer bond charge of $400 per family will be posted to a player’s account in RAMP.
Families who have not complied with the policy will not be eligible to register any of their players for the following season until their volunteer bond commitment and administrative fees are met through payment.
If a family chooses not to receive volunteer opportunity communications (with the intent of not completing the volunteer hours and therefore incurring the charge) they can contact the BVRA administrator after October 15th to be removed from the relevant contact lists.
New team specific positions eligible for volunteer bond hours include: team treasurer (taking over the cash calendar coordinator role) and two jersey parents per team.
The cost of the volunteer bond is listed in Policy 21.0 Rates and Fees. Fees are not prorated based on the number of volunteer bond hours outstanding.Game jersey care & modification
No alterations to the jersey are permitted (see Policy) other than attachment of name bars or captaincy patches. Jerseys must be returned at the end of the season with the name bars and/or patches removed.
Teams are responsible for the costs of procuring, affixing and removing name bars and captaincy patches, and any damage to the jerseys that may result in doing so.
Each team will designate 2 parent volunteers to be responsible for the jerseys for the season. BV no longer requires a jersey deposit at beginning of season but each team is responsible for any damages and must have the jersey repaired by a qualified professional and/or contact the Director of Assets (Equipment) for further guidance. A replacement charge of $150/jersey will be charged to the team for any jerseys returned damaged.Team naming and branding
All teams in the AS to U12 divisions can choose to follow the unified naming, or select their own team name. Team names must not be vulgar, offensive, derogatory, infringing on copyright or trademarked material, or otherwise deemed inappropriate. Teams are free to be creative but are encouraged to pick names that fit with the Bow View identity (e.g., river-related, like “Otters”). All names must be approved by the BVRA Board prior to use.
All teams in the U14 to U19 divisions will be known by the unified moniker of “Rapids”
Teams are only to wear “Rapids”-branded apparel.Out-of-Bounds Player Request

Age divisions are used to group players based on birth year. While we do not have sequential skill markers players need to complete or pass before moving on, we do have tiers within age divisions, to group players of similar skills.
Evaluations allow us to determine where a player is at a certain point in time. In U10, Step 1 is the most beginner skills, Step 3 is the most skilled. U12-U19 has A,B,C tiers. A being the most skilled.
U10-U14 evaluations include one skills ice time which evaluates players on timed skating drills. Players who are new to skating will participate as Ringette Alberta, our provincial sport organization requires times from as many skaters as possible. Skills skate ice times will be followed by game play ice time(s). Skills skate times will be used to group similar skating skilled players for game play. In some cases, those who are first time skaters may not be grouped for a game play. Other players may play in 2-3 game plays to determine their best fit. Once all game plays are complete, teams are drafted by coaches, the objective being to draft as balanced teams as possible within a step or tier.
Active Start evaluations are one ice time with very basic skating drills to determine the spectrum of skaters.
U16 & U19 participate in 1-3 game plays.

When you receive your first email from the age division coordinator please reply and let them know if your player will not be available on a certain date. The age division coordinator will advise how your player will be placed for the evaluations if that date impacts their evaluations.
